Breakfast is designed to do exactly what it’s name suggests, break the fast. Our bodies require the proteins, fats and carbohydrates delivered once we have breakfast not only for our muscles, but our brain as well.
Failure to have breakfast will have the following negative effects: lack of energy and concentration; feeling faint or dizzy; slowing down of your metabolism causing your body to store more fat; and if you’re training in the gym your strength will be limited as a result of having no fuel in your stomach.
Some idea for breakfast to help you get the most of your day include: poached eggs with avocado and spinach; protein smoothie with coconut milk, whey protein and a banana; low fat and sugar Greek style yoghurt with fruit and nuts; omelette with vegies and toast.
The key is making the time to prepare and sit down for that short period of time.
