Getting Rid of Stubborn Body Fat

To lose body fat we need to be in a calorie deficit, this is a state where we burn more calories (that is energy) than what we ingest. Having an energy deficit, creates an energy imbalance (lower)  where our body then taps into energy stores eg: stored fat and consumes it as our energy. It is unfortunate but some areas of our body lose fat quicker than others this comes down to a few things like our fat distribution and our habits. We cannot unfortunately spot reduce body fat.

There are 3 primary factors that control how quickly you lose fat from different parts of your body:

  • How fat cells respond to Catecholamines (are like an instant messaging system for the brain, they are signalling molecules that act on different tissues in the body)
  • How fat cells respond to insulin
  • How much blood flow an area of fat cells receive

You essentially need to ensure you have a controlled balanced diet that allows you to be in a calorie deficit and function effectively by doing both resistance training, steady state and high intensity cardio.

Studies have proven that actually our HABITS are the main contender to changing our body composition (which is losing weight and gaining more muscle). So look into bettering your habits like maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise or movement and you should see changes.
