The Importance of Personal Training

The Importance of Personal Training

There is no denying that Personal Training often forms a very important component of an individuals health and fitness routine. Whether you are looking to lose weight, improve strength, run a marathon, or work around certain injuries, we are trained to help you achieve your goals.

Here are the top 10 reasons why Personal Training is so important.

-TECHNIQUE PERFECTION: Despite the amount of times we have seen other people perform exercises, it can be hard to replicate the movement yourself, and even harder to make sure the right muscles are working the way they should be. Having a trainer by your side ensures that correct form will be taught – ensuring the right muscles are working to their full potential and also reducing the risk of injury.

-EDUCATION: Wanting to train for strength but have no idea where to start? Not to sure how many rest days to take? And do I need protein before or after my workout? The great thing about having a trainer is that you can ask all the questions you want! Our job is not only to make you work hard in the gym, but to educate you along the way to ensure that you are getting the best results.

-VARIETY: Feeling sick of doing the same old workout you found on the internet sometime last year? Lucky for you, trainers are creative people. It’s our job to make sure no two sessions are the same, and to always keep it fresh and interesting. Leaving you a lot more excited and satisfied with your workouts.

-ACCOUNTABILITY: How many times have you said to yourself “I’ll go to the gym later” only to find yourself distracted or making excuses not to go. By having an appointment with a trainer you are far more likely to make it to the gym. We also work around you. So even if 5am or 7pm are the only times you can manage a workout we will be there!

-STAYING ON TRACK: Think of us as the good angel on your shoulder (although some may have different opinions on that idea!). Goals are not achieved overnight. In fact it takes 6-12 weeks to start seeing results, 8 weeks for something to become a habit, and maintainable weight loss is around only 0.5-1kg per week. Human beings are impatient by nature, and after 2-3 weeks and seeing no results, we are likely to wonder what the point of it all is, and give up just as quickly as we started!  Your trainer is here to remind you of these facts, to keep you on schedule, and ultimately keep you on track towards your health and fitness goals – even when you may lose sight.

-PERSONALISED WORKOUTS AND TRAINING PROGRAMS: Regardless of what you are training for there is never a “one size fit’s all” approach. Everyone is unique and we all come with our injuries, likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses. Your trainer is here to make sure that your workouts are specific to you and your needs, and may also develop programs for you to complete in your own time. So even if we aren’t present in some of your workouts, you can rest assured that you are still working towards your goals!

-NO WASTED TIME: How many times have you come in to the gym, done 5-10 minutes of cardio and half heartedly done a handful of squats before calling it a day? Well with a trainer you are guaranteed to spend your entire session working hard. The best part is you don’t even have to think – just do. And somehow not knowing what is coming next makes the session go a whole lot faster!

-NUTRITIONAL GUIDANCE: When looking at weight loss, we say that results are due to 20% exercise, and 80% what is going into your mouth. (Yes – You still have to exercise to get all the great health benefits of exercise including decreased risk of type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, some types of cancer, improved mental health and general fitness!). We can help you work out which foods are good and nourishing for your body, and which ones you may want to label as a “sometimes” food. We look at each persons diet individually and see what positive changes we can gradually introduce.

-WE CHALLENGE YOU: Don’t think you will ever be able to run 5km? Lift that 30kg barbell over your head? Hold a plank for 2 minutes? No matter how long you train for, it never get’s easier. You just get better. We as Personal Trainers are here to make sure that you are constantly trying to break through that next barrier and achieve all that you can.

-SUPPORT: Your goals are our goals. We believe in you, and take pride in all of your successes. We are there to listen throughout you workouts when you just need to chat, we laugh with you, remind you that pain is only temporary, and most of all, encourage you 100%.
